Geranium Essential Oil – Why I think it’s so great!

2010 February 22

Egyptian Rose & Sweet Orange ProductsI  recently renamed our Passion Soap and other products (except for our massage oil) to Egyptian Rose & Sweet Orange.  I did this because I think it gives a better description of the product’s scent.  Passion conveys more of an emotion rather than giving people any kind of heads up on what the actual scent is like.  We left the Passion label on the Massage Oil as it fits with the rest of our Sensuous Night Massage Scents of Evocative and Scandalous.

Okay, by now you may be thinking the post title says Geranium and Susan has yet to say a word about it.  Well the list of essential oils in Egyptian Rose & Sweet Orange includes Egyptian Geranium, Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang and Canaga (an essential oil similar in scent to Ylang Ylang).  We left Geranium out of the name on the label because too many people assume geranium essential oil will smell like the geraniums in the their flower bed.  Geranium essential oil is from an entirely different genus of plant and actually has a very floral, almost rose-like scent.  Hence our name that goes on the label.

So why exactly do I think Geranium Essential Oil is so great?  Well as mentioned above it has a great, floral scent.  In fact, it is one of the few floral scents in essential oils that is reasonably priced enough to use in soaps.  Geranium is also is useful for many medical and skincare applications as having a as strong impact on your emotions.  We use geranium in our Egyptian Rose & Sweet Orange Blend Products and Passion Massage Oil as shown in the photo and also in our Susan’s Own Face Serum and Geranium Face Scrub.  Geranium seems to particularly resonate  with women and aids in dealing with our hormonal issues whether expressed through the skin, the body or the nerves.  This, along with the fact that it helps bring a radiant glow to your skin is why I include it in my Susan’s Own Face Serum.  If you have adult acne that appears to be hormonally triggered, then give this product a try.   I developed it for myself and used it with great success!
