We all think we want to accomplish more with less effort or time invested. Beflieve me, I am on the same page with still reaching my goals but with more me time.
On the other hand, weโre told that to succeed, you need to hustle and grind 24/7. Thereโs no doubt that hard work is essential, but is there such a thing as working too hard? You might need to step back to achieve your goals and rethink how youโre doing something.
Not sure whether stepping back is the right choice for you? I have a list here of the pros and cons to taking a more relaxed approach to life. Check them out and then evaluate whatโs the best path for you!
Pros and cons to taking a slower path:

- PRO: Youโll Have More Time for the Things You Love
If youโre always working, when do you have time for the things you love? When do you have time for your family and friends? When do you have time just to relax and rejuvenate? If youโre constantly going, going, going, youโre bound to burn out eventually. Doing less and taking time for yourself can prevent burnout and lead a happier, healthier life.
CON: You Might Not Get Where You Want to Be
If your goal is to climb the corporate ladder or build a successful business, taking it easy might not be the best approach. Being driven and ambitious is crucial if you want to achieve big things. Sometimes, working hard is the only way to get ahead.
- PRO: Youโll Be More Productive
Taking breaks can actually make you more productive. Youโre bound to get burnt out and make mistakes when youโre always working. You can return to your work refreshed and ready to tackle anything by taking breaks and giving yourself time to relax.
CON: You Could Fall Behind
You could fall behind if everyone else is working hard and youโre not. If youโre not putting in the hours, you might be unable to keep up with your colleagues or competitors. Sometimes, working hard is necessary to stay ahead of the pack.
- PRO: Youโll Be Healthier
If youโre constantly working, you will not have time to take care of yourself. You wonโt have time to eat healthy meals or exercise. This can lead to a host of health problems down the road. Relaxing more improves your health and well-being.
CON: You Might Get Bored
If youโre not accustomed to having free time, you might not know what to do with yourself. You might get bored and start to feel restless. Finding a balance between work and play is crucial, so you donโt get too antsy.
Evaluate what you really want.

Overall, there are pros and cons to doing less to achieve more. Ultimately, itโs up to you to decide what approach is best for you. For example, if youโre feeling overwhelmed, it might be beneficial to take a step back and reassess your priorities. Sometimes, doing less can help you achieve more.
After going through the list above take some time to think about what is really most important to you. For example, having more time to do the things you love sounds great but so does being successful in your career. Take some time and think about not what you want more, but what you would miss most if you donโt have it in your life. Making decisions and then changes in your life can be scary but it can also feel like opening the door on your way to living your best life ever.
Perhaps that will help you put things in perspective and assign priorities. I am rooting for you to help you formulate a life plan that works best for you!!
